Does it hurt?
Yes and no. Everyone is different and it depends on where the tattoo is. Some areas of the body hurt more than others but it mainly feels like a rubber band flicking sensation. We do recommend calling into our clinic (prior to the day of your initial tattoo removal appointment) to pre-purchase our extremely effective topical anesthetic, exclusive only to our clinic. Our topical anesthetic is designed specifically for painful procedures, such as laser tattoo removal. This combined with our cooling system will ensure you are kept as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment.
How many sessions do I need?
Depending on the size, intensity and colours of your tattoo, will depend on how many treatment sessions are required. 7-12 treatments is a good guide to completely remove a professional tattoo. Homemade tattoos, cosmetic or permanent makeup will generally require fewer treatments & may only require 1-3 treatments. Each individual case is different.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Tattoos consist of thousands of particles of tattoo pigment suspended in the skin. While normal human growth and healing processes remove small foreign particles from the skin, tattoo pigment particles are permanent because they are too big to be removed. Laser treatment, however, causes tattoo pigment particles to shatter which results in fragmentation into smaller pieces. These smaller pieces are then removed by normal body processes.
